Hello 2022!

Wow, hard to believe the first month of 2022 is almost complete!

TBH, I was having mixed feelings as we began this new year. Omicron put a damper on some highly anticipated work travel (Paris pushed off till March now) and showroom events have been rescheduled as well.

We’re so anxious to continue building on the incredible momentum created in 2021, it’s hard to remain patient when we have such big plans for this coming year!

But if you know me, positivity prevails! Several of our textile partners are working on new collections, we are bringing in some new lines (hello lighting!) and releasing new furniture pieces, you’ll soon be able to shop everything in the showroom through a trade-only eCommerce site, the Club at The Collective is launching next week and we’re working on a little refresh in the showroom to coincide with our one year anniversary coming up in March.

Oh, and I am going to start blogging more regularly! 🙂

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing more about all the initiatives outlined above and sharing news from our partner lines, but let’s start off the new year with some tough talk: Furniture Lead Times

As many of you know, the Evars Collective Upholstery Collection is made to order in Southern California. Because of that, we thankfully can get your orders up to the Bay Area in a matter of days after completion. But yes, we too are experiencing the same pain points as the rest of the manufacturers in our industry.  As you all are aware, both 2020 & 2021 were fraught with temporary factory closures, labor shortages, and supply chain issues. In speaking with our manufacturers, we don’t see that easing up until the back half of 2022, especially after this most recent Omicron wave thwarted efforts to catch up on the biggest backlog our factories have ever seen. How completely over are we with the phrase “unprecedented times”?!

But there are glimmers of hope and we’re happy to say our US-based partners are at the forefront of some innovation to speed things along.  Our primary upholstery manufacturer has invested almost a million dollars in new equipment to automate production to address current and future labor shortages.  They are absolutely committed to recovering and getting back to a more normal production time we all so desperately want and need!

My team and I speak, text, and email almost daily with our manufacturers, work rooms, and vendors as they try their best to keep us informed of foreseeable delays. In full transparency, they are also receiving unexpected delays passed on from their suppliers and partners. We will continue to provide the most up-to-date information regarding lead times and changes to shipment dates so that you and your clients are always informed.

  • So with a 30-32 week lead time, why source from Evars Collective?
    • First & foremost, QUALITY is worth the wait. Skilled craftspeople, meticulous detailing, and exacting care are used to create the highest comfort and quality handmade furniture designed to last for years.
    • With over 50 styles (and more to be added this year), 80+ graded fabrics or COM, and the ability to customize each piece in several ways, the choices are endless. You can feasibly source an entire house of furniture from our line and have one point of contact to manage all your orders.
    • With our concierge-level customer service, you receive weekly order emails from Alex, our Production Coordinator, so you’re never chasing down status updates from us.
    • Yes, 30 weeks is a little ouch, but think of us as an extension of your team…when you land the project, pop in with your floor plans, Pinterest boards and creative ideas and let our team help you source and design so you can get your concepts approved quicker and place those orders early on in the process!
    • We also have a showroom full of beautiful yet comfy and cozy pieces so bring your clients in for the sit test or if you need a little back up convincing them to go a bit bolder with the color of the sofa!

My goal for Evars Collective has always been to provide the kind of products, services, and resources designers need to run their businesses more efficiently (and look good doing it!). With almost a year under our belt, I am happy to know we are achieving that every day as we work with so many of you. We look forward to continuing to support you and your growing businesses in 2022 and beyond!
